The system's goal is video surveilling/monitoring wide locations (e.g. ports, aerports, refineries etc.), having specialized surveillance modules for each area where there are held specific activities for that sector (e.g. pedestrian traffic, vehicle traffic, access control etc.).
 
The system's architecture is client/server, having a designated video surveillance server for each monitored area, on which the client applications can connect. Each server receives images from up to 16 video cameras, both fixed and mobile (Pan/Tilt/Zoom). Any of these cameras can be viewed and/or controlled from remote, using the client application. The server application can be configured to automatically detect any motion occured in each camera's visual and to trace moving objects, using the mobile video cameras.
 
The surveillance servers are interconnected in a local network with Internet connexion (so that it allows remote access to any of them). Accessing from the local network, or from the Internet, is made through secured connexions. In order to optimize the data channels usage, the "live" images from the video surveillance servers will be sent (through Internet) using a compressed video flux MPEG4.
